Usefulness: This Web Cast outlines specific problems with the current federal tax structure that thwart the growth of women-owned businesses within the U.S. according to the National Women’s Business Council. Some of the tax amendments the council wishes to amend include: the simplification of the federal tax code, a decrease in payroll tax, and relief from alternative minimum tax. In a reference to a survey conducted by WIPP, Ms. Soldano states that 88% of people surveyed would like to see tax cuts in the expenditures of small businesses. Ms. Soldano provides advice regarding resources for women-owned businesses such as contacting the state attourney for planning to start a business. The tax policies that the council attributes to harming small businesses are examples of the legislation that the NWBC will bring to the Obama administration’s attention. A reform in the federal tax structure is essential in assisting women business owners toward a secure future.
