Surely we have come further than “should” ….
Women make 83% of all purchasing decisions! We are starting a majority of all new businesses.
The only real thing holding us back is funding. Banks think we’re an anomaly. Male politicians are still quibbling over whether or not women are a worthy investment.
As I’ve said many times, women must run for office and be present at the seats where decisions are being made that effect their lives and well being (because the men currently onboard like the status quo).
Of course, the cotton industry liked slaves too. And its economy was forever changed when workers were treated like human beings…But, change it did and so must our current inequities.
We are way beyond “should” and my hope is that women rise up, recognize their power, their numbers, and their VOICE, and demand equal representation so they are no longer treated like 2nd class citizens. (See http://www.iwpr.org Status of Women Report, 2008)
